Classical Series
The 2007-2008 Classical Series opens with two programs (September
and October) that are uniquely American, with works by American
composers... including a world premiere! The balance of seven
concerts features works by composers from seven other different
nations, including Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Schubert’s
Ninth, and Verdi’s Requiem. Musicians featured in the
DPO’s 2007-2008 Classical Series include such world-renowned
artists as violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianist Norman Krieger,
conductor Larry Rachleff, soprano Susan Lorette Dunn, and violinist
Philippe Quint and such up-and-comers as cellist Julie Albers,
pianist Spencer Myer, and pianist Lise de la Salle. The Classical
Series also features an exciting range of musical styles, with
works by such composers as Bach, Beethoven (Eroica), Bizet,
Copland (Appalachian Spring), Handel, Hanson (Romantic Symphony),
Higdon, Mozart, Verdi, and Vivaldi. To become a Dayton Philharmonic subscriber,
